Madison Magazine Writes About Mike Baron and Bad Road Rising
By Liberty Island Links & Excerpts
Madison Magazine writes: Madison native Mike Baron, best known for writing the “Badger”and “Nexus” comic books starting in the 1980s, has more recently been churning out novels. And like “Badger” before it, the “Bad Road Rising” series — starring Josh Pratt, a born-again, ex-con/private investigator — is largely set in Madison.
Interview: Mike Baron Talks Comics, Culture, and Conservatives with Mark Tapson at FrontPageMag

By Mark Tapson: Recently I read a page-turner of a new novel with the eye-catching title Sons of Bitches, which centers on a young Jewish artist who releases a comic book boldly depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad. This naturally makes her a target for outraged Muslim fundamentalists, and their death threats force her to hire former biker hoodlum-turned-private investigator Josh Pratt. Justice, revenge, and mayhem ensue.
This is obviously a reflection of the real-life experiences of such artists as Mollie Norris, who apparently still remains in hiding years after merely suggesting an Everybody Draw Muhammad Day, and frequent FrontPage Mag artist, former Muslim Bosch Fawstin, who was targeted by terrorists at the Draw Muhammad event in Texas a couple of years ago (a contest which Fawstin won). And then, of course, there was the massacre of twelve employees at the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris in response to their “blasphemous” depiction of Muhammad on the magazine cover. Violating Islamic blasphemy laws comes with a high price – but so does submitting to them.

Liberty Island Celebrates LIBERTY IN FICTION
A Press Release for Immediate Release
By Liberty Island Staff
When in the course of human events our national story becomes lost, confused, corrupted, or otherwise loses its way, it’s time to focus less on politics and more on finding new stories to tell.
Liberty Island has made itself the home for a new generation of storytellers whose work is inspired by a love of freedom and the American spirit. Our books and short fiction celebrate what is great about America — and what is true of the human condition. Most importantly, they embody the idea that freedom is the paramount goal of human beings everywhere.
In our polarized political debates, it is well to remember that freedom is one value we all share. All Americans consider freedom to be their heritage and legacy to future generations.
It’s therefore fitting that this Independence Day marks the re-launch of our website and the release of our new catalog. So, let the spirit of liberty unite us as we celebrate Liberty in Fiction.

Baby Sitter: Fiction from the World of Baron’s ‘Bad Road Rising’
By Mike Baron
Kraushaar Ford occupied a half block on Michigan Blvd. in Waukesha. It was 11:00 am on a bright Thursday morning in September when Josh kicked out his Harley on the wide concrete apron outside the showroom. Kraushaar Ford was a long, low, gleaming white building with a hint of art deco, a glimpse of the future from a Fifties-era Mechanix Illustrated.
Josh entered the chill interior. It smelled pleasantly of coffee and lemons. A Shelby Mustang sat on the spotless black and white tile floor, presenting its shark-like grin to the public. A young salesman, dapper in a gray suit, headed Josh’s way with a smile plastered across his chin, not unlike the Mustang. At a trim five eleven, wearing a tank top that revealed fully tatted arms and shoulders, Josh looked like a biker.
