CISCO, TX, June 29, 2016 — The C.W.C. is pleased to announce the 40th Annual Summer Writing Contest. Five adult categories to choose from: Poetry, Publication Briefs, Articles, Short Stories, and Books.
With a special Children Write! category for writers aged fifteen years old and under.
WHEN: Entries may be made from June 1, 2016, through July 31, 2016.
WHO MAY ENTER: Anyone, anywhere! You do not have to be a Cisco Writers Club member. Judges may enter any category except the one they are judging. You must be 15 years or younger to enter Children Write!
CASH AWARDS: $100, $50, $10, and $5 respectively will be made to judges’ determinations of first, second, third and honorable mention at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2016, in the Myrtle Wilks Community Center, 1498 IH-20, Cisco, Texas. Additionally, the David Autry Sweepstakes Award is $250; ten other special awards are $50 each. We award non-cash prizes only for Children Write!
FEES: $5.00 per entry.
SELECTED JUDGES, competent in their categories, will be asked, but not required, to critique entries.
MANUSCRIPTS must be your original work, unpublished as of May 1, 2016, and must not have placed first previously in this contest. Enter as often as you wish. Submit manuscripts (a) electronically; or (b) mail a crisp, clear, typed copy by midnight, July 31, 2016 CDT.

The Cisco Writers Club was started in 1975 by professional and hobby writers in the Central Texas region. It serves writers everywhere, with monthly meetings, interesting and informative speakers, occasional workshops, a newsletter for members, and an annual contest.
