She was not any kind of artificial, omnipotent super-hero. On the contrary, she was a very real human being with human weaknesses and human failings. But for her, freedom really was more important than life itself -- literally, and not just as an empty, facile slogan. Even the most dehumanizing, dystopian political system ever invented was not able to defeat her.
