Sir Gawain from the Arthurian Legends. Although the total sum of Gawain's stories leave him complex to the point of contradiction, he's always impressed me with his conviction. He's a loyal, skilled and dedicated hero - the kind of man you'd want on your side. As a kid I really liked Lancelot, but as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate Gawain as a character more.
