Audie Cockings is the pen name for a native Marylander who's guilty pleasures include salt and vinegar kettle chips and dancing to "Brass Monkey" with her children in the kitchen.
Cockings has more close friends over eighty-five than most eighty-five year olds do. As an undergrad at University of Maryland College Park, she volunteered her Saturdays in an intergenerational wellness program. Later she was a caregiver in adult day care facilities then a professional geriatric care manager after graduate school, helping clients better navigate the eldercare arena.
While consulting in Minneapolis, Cockings created a caregiver training program for a local home care provider that now has over 1,000 franchises in the U.S. and abroad.
Audie is passionate about health care and has been published three times in the field of gerontology. She values care and dignity for people in every stage of the life span, from conception until natural death.
As a mother of four young ones, Cockings is passionate about fostering God-given creativity and talents in young minds and the value of hard work and self-sufficiency.
As the wife of a West Point graduate and Army Ranger, she understands the costs of our freedoms and the self-sacrifice of those who go abroad so that we at home may sleep soundly.
Little Red Rider, Cocking's first official attempt at fiction was published and released on Amazon.com in June 2014 and made Amazon's best seller list on July 4, 2014 at #65. The sequel, The Mole, will be released Summer 2015.
And for fun...Audie's growing tobacco in her backyard and hopes to have a whiskey tasting/stogie rolling party this fall.
Feel free to email Audie with any questions or comments. She loves to laugh and enjoys dry humor.
